I was out car shopping with the good lady yesterday - she is still on the lookout for something for herself although I think she's made 'another final' decision... The discussions - as usual - turned to my 'old piece of ****' (for her anything over 3 years old should be reprocessed into tin cans)... We both agree that the S15 is completely hopeless in the winter but the real thing the wife believes is that I'm too old for an S15 and don't have time for all the 'maintenance' I have planned.

So she gave me 2 (well 3) options:

1. keep the Silvia but spend no more money on mods (except that already spent which includes the 2.4L engine) and then have something newer and practical for every day (such as a new honda хуй-онда civic).

2. her favourite option - sell the Silvia and the new engine and all the parts sitting on the balcony and then she will buy me a new Infinity G35 coupe - but only if it is black.

3. another less practical option - sell the Silvia and she will buy me a 350Z and use the money I get from selling the new engine for tuning parts for the 350 (maybe enough for a turbo kit). With new kid on board this is probably the least useful option given that the 350 doesn't have a 2+2 option (unlike all the other Z's in the past - so much for Z-DNA)

The 'unspoken' 4th option is to continue with my Silvia as planned :)

I think if my S15 was mine from new and had a 100% clean record and was a spec-R from scratch then there would be no need for this discussion. But it is clear that the car has some accident damage - I knew that when I bought it of course, and it will always have been a spec-S regardless of the 'short list' of mods that I have done and in the pipeline...

what do you guys think.... perhaps a vote :)

Option 2 for me. This is nearly what I did by buying the Hilux. Practical, if somewhat basic daily drive but serves the purpose. The only variation is the the Silvia is still being modded... :p

I would say keep the Silvia and get that Civic.
How would she feel if your friends modded your car instead of you :D

I was also disappointed with the Z- looks good, but not worth the money IMO.

I don't know about you, but I don't think I could part with my car very easily  .

If I were you, and absolutely had to, I would stop modding and buy a boring DD. I am just lucky that Mrs Vandal has a nice new roomy Holden Bommadore for a company car. Saves my car from being driven every day, dog hair (and smell  ) and niece and nephew damage.

Maybe you can keep modding on the sly?[/b]

Option 5 - trade in the wife :D

Seriously - it sounds like you still have a long road ahead. Another viable option would be to strip your current car of all valuable parts - then sell it. Proceed to buying a specR (possibly with decent mods already) and then finish it off and enjoy.

A major overhaul will always take time, money and cause frustration.

If in the end you want to flag it and get a practial car - get an EV0 - preferably a 9. They do it all.

Yeah, too bad they look like a hairdresser's car :ghey:

While I'm totally off topic, I am also offended by the number of wannabe evos driving around ($18k n/a Lancers with ridiculous body kits and fart sounding mufflers)

Definitely not an option... Russian women are the best :) :) :)
Have you guys seen the movie "Hostel" - produced by Quentin Tarrentino? It's a disturbing horror about tourists that get lured to a hostel by beautiful Russian women, drugged - and then tortured to death by rich paying psycho tourists.

The Russian women in that weren't very nice

Ok, I got it. You turn modifying the Silvia into a "couples" thing.

"Look what I bought you for our anniversary honey, a new set of jack stands. You can use them when we change my clutch this afternoon...together."

Then she won't bust your chops for spending all your time in the garage. Get her involved - before you know it, she'll be nagging you to do more mofifications...

"I thought you were going to install that nitrous system this afternoon with me...? Put that vacuum cleaning down and get to work, I've already removed the intake manifold".

...no thanks required...just helping a brother out :D
