Do your S15's come with heat shields under the bonnet?

Do you mean heat shields as in around the manifold, or lagging attached to the underside of the bonnet? AFAIK, S15s (JDM anyway) don't have under-bonnet lagging. All Euro S14s did though. Its actually for noise reduction rather than heat reasons though.

If you meant proper heat shielding, most of mine's gone, due to tubular mani, and downpipe. That inclused the shielding round the ABS unit. Got ally glass cloth tied to that at the mo.

Why would you expect it?? Is there a need for it??

I had it on a 306 TD i had years ago, but the lagging redirected the air to the IC that was mounted on top of the engine (scooby stylee) and acted as noise reducing material also.

i thought that it was a heat shield to protect the bonnet paint from bubbling

Its probably would have some heat reducing qualities, but the heat is not likely to effect your paint

There is that, but add to that the heat off the engine and your paint may start to run off.............
