So the scenario is, I've been at my current job for 10 years. I'm a vehicle technician and when I first joined the garage it was a TVR dealer and Subaru import specialist. It was great work with amazing cars.

10years later and a lot of cutbacks, we are a ford service agent and only dabble in TVR's because the bosses son is a retard with no business experience and a ****ty attitude. And our main body of work is every day junk like peugout fords etc. My passion is with performance cars!

Its a very relaxed atmosphere and I can work on my car whenever I want after work etc, dont work saturdays and I'm on 23k. The garage has been going down hill for years now with the boss not really caring anymore and the son being an arrogant moron.

Now the positive, I've managed to get an interview with a Ferrari garage near me, same starting wage but they have the bonus scheme and overtime pay on Saturdays. I'm really excited about this but also apprehensive as going from a small family garage to main dealer could be a lot more pressure and a lot of hard work as I can't imagine Ferrari's are easy to work on.

So I'm just not sure if its the right thing to do, I have a mortgage and a wedding to pay for this year so for want to risk loosing money over this. But then its Ferrari!! :)

anyone with similar experience? And views?

Hey by the sounds of the company your working for is only going downhill and before you know it be closed.

A great opportunity has turned up and it won't come again, so if I was you take the Ferrari job, you get the love back with working with performance cars and you will enjoy the job your doing. Your only gonna get better and there be no pressure.
So go for it Sam:thumbs:

Go for the interview, you can always turn down the job if they accept your application. I understand exactly where you are coming from in regard to working for a relaxed environment and then a pressure, tense, millions of stupid rules environment.... my problem about 5 years ago was similar to yours, small family company the job outlook was bleak and the wage was not brilliant in the end of 2008 got made redundant along with 3 others, other larger company stable job, higher (regular guaranteed) income but stupid stress problems. I have to have my safety glasses on now once i get out of my car in the car park.. yay for heath & safety..

Up to you to sort out, but if you decide to go for the job at Ferrari just don't expect it to be great and nothing will annoy you. The perfect job does not exist, just pay the mortgage and keep the wife feeling stable and the rest is just small fry.

As for the "But then its Ferrari!!" really..... you work there for money not love of company, they will shaft you as soon as look at you. Just do whats most best to pay the bills and keep the worries as low as can be....
Ive just built a brand new home on a 1800m2 section and have a few nice things, but in the past Ive also scratched together 1&2 pence coins for the bus into town for work.... and walked the trolley all the way home from tesco cause i could not afford a car... Just do whatever is best long term and put up with dickhead bosses or tense environments.

I had the interview today!! OMG the garage is incredible!

They had 458's everywhere, they had a F40 and F50 in the workshop! They had a £1.2 million Dino in there for work!
They had a 280 Lemans cars, a McLaren mp44, oh and a Gto and countless normal 360's and 550's.
it was like playing gran truismo in real life. Incredible!!!

Got to wait a week or two to find out as they've got 3 more people to interview!

Glad to see you went for it! I don't like what I do but we get paid enough not do anything about it, regardless of how it sounds it's a terrible situation to be it. Its sensible to know when your a small cog in a big machine but it's never good to be made aware of it... daily.

If you have an opportunity to do something that makes you happy, provide new challenges and opportunities for what could be more money then I say jump at it!

Had the second interview today with the dealer Principle (the big boss) we got on really well and he said the previous guys who interviewed me were very taken with me. And he seemed to show me very positive signs!

So fingers crossed he liked me and I get the job! They had 2 F40's in the workshop today.... I mean 2 F40's. crazzzzy!

The walk round ended with him shaking my end and saying "We WILL be in contact soon" with an long emphasised WILL, so I'm feeling quite confident! Cannot wait!
