i did exactly the same to get my elbow on too... good ol' angle grinder to make a mini spanner! :)

and like said, after nippin' off a couple threads on that lower stud... the nut is a PITA to get on... once it's on, it's simple... but it's just gettin' it started!

You get rust under the strut bar anyway if you don't put some form of protection round the area. Try a thin layer of high density foam under the mount.

Mine's a genuine Vertex damper I got off Barky (brand new). I'm quite interested to see what difference it makes. I did a bit of read up on it and have changed my opinion slightly...for now. Should be fitted with decent engine mounts too, but we'll see how it goes :)

There may well be a slight change to that photo again this weekend ;)

Hotpipe from Apex Performance.

Don't get too excited, haven't changed much. Just a couple of minor differences... :)

The nature of damper means that it will transmit some vibration through the body. However, compare how much the top of the engine moves when you rev it without the damper and with it fitted...

It could also have been that you hadn't adjusted it properly...

Yes they are the same

I thought these dampers where a bad idea due to excess stress on the strut top?

Very nice , did you need grippers and underlay too?

Your going to end up lining your whole bay with that foil :wack: :D

Having read up on NS.com, I'm happy that there isn't undue stress. Particulaly if there is a strut brace reinforcing the two struts. :)

My terminals are reversed. The carpet is just a precaution to insulate the live terminal :)

I have it on very good authority (as in tried and tested) that protecting the brake lines from tubular manifold heat makes a dramatic difference to eliminating brake fade from the heat...
