My tension rod bushes were looking pretty ropey so decided to upgrade them, found some already polybushed which saves me a job.

Spec s compared with R, guess the bend is for clearance? or maybe for different alignment?

Gave them a lick of paint

Brace back from the powder-coaters

New speakers as my old ones are :censored:

The tweeters are a bit too Ali G for my liking so need to work out how to fit them stealthy.

Also paid more than i probably should have for a carbon Kevlar cooling panel

Nice work dude. Do yourself a huge favour and get dynamat or that rip speed sound proofing stuff and do your doors. Buy two packs, one for each door (£50 total - sounds a lot but trust me it's more worth it than the speaker upgrade) and put enough on the out door skin focusing on the part of the door nearest the road and speaker as well as the middle where it flexes the most. Save enough for the inner door skin so you can cover all the holes as best you can. Idea being that you turn the whole of the door itself into a speaker cabinet. Trust me, you'll love it. I really want to do my wheel arches like you have, but doors are the biggest bang for buck especially if you like your tunes.

Great thread btw! :)

Thanks!, I Did use some silent coat soundproofing with some noise isolator foam on top of that but i only did the area behind the speaker...I have a few sheets left so perhaps i will put some more on.
My car is so damn loud needs a good sound system to compete with it, May try and get an amp next.

One thing i did do which seemed to make the cabin less boomy was to proof under the parcel shelf as there are so many holes there :)

Ah that's a good idea. I might try that parcel shelf trick too! I tried under the spare wheel but tbh it wasn't exactly necessary. Would love to get under the carpet done, and the roof. Makes the car seem that bit more lux :)

Shelb, you have completely motivated me. I think you have done an amazing job, and put a lot of hours in. Would be interested to know from what jobs you have done if the rust comes back again. But I am now going to my garage and finishing the body work and paint job to my Landy Defender. totally inspired to bring my car back to a new look again. Cheers

appreciate the kind words, I got a lot of my motivation and inspiration from a thread on the SXOC : http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?283826-Comprehensive-S14a-refurb&highlight=comprehensive

It's been about a year since i painted the boot

Filthy as I don't have a floor/carpet

Has been leaking for ages so there is water sat.

Cleaned it up and still looks pretty good.
Not too fussed as will be re painted if/when I fit the bracing

Battery tray looks ok

The Tension rods are making me want to do the rest of the suspension as they are putting it all to shame

This is the paint I used on them, Highly recommend it if your painting something that needs to be a bit tougher
It went on better than anything else I've used, dried nice and gives a factory kind of finish

Was a bit pricey mind.

My front cross member is pretty mashed up from eating speedbumps etc and been meaning to change it for ages.

Old swinging chair = spray booth

You just can't beat car parts drying indoors :D

Erm...yeah

Thought may aswell upgrade the rack bushes as there will be easy access

The camera I use is from Tesco if anyone was wondering the best place not to buy a camera from :wack:

The front is looking pretty clean now (in the flesh)

Just been cleaning and polishing wheels recently

Many many hours later...

Not perfect but my car gets used quite a bit so doesn't have to be 100%

I wanted to do something a bit different with a gear gaiter + nob I picked up as they were knackered.

Took it apart to see how its made

Then made a template

Lost some pictures but you get the idea

Working out how these poppers go was great fun :annoyed:

Made it the same as the stock one, so it is triple layered with soft wadding in the middle

Ahhh wheel 'issues'

Went to fit the fronts but they were fouling the caliper, I thought no worries will try a 5mm spacer...still hitting
so tried a rear on the front...still hit!!
Then I tried a rear with 5mm spacer and just cleared.

only problem is the wheel and tyre stick out past the arch.

I was going to a show later in the day so this had to do for the minute

I was a bit pissed of so just left it like that and thought about it for about a week.
I was thinking am I going to have to get a fat spacer and then fit wider wings.
or change the brakes so I get more clearance

Face palm moment
swap the faces around

Had to order a special spline bit as it's a bull**** size no one has

Also ordered spigot rings so they sit right or something

Done 2 wheels, just building myself up to do the remaining :)

Got some new wheel nuts

Quality is second to none

Then had my tyres nitrogen filled :wack:

Not 100% on the gold colour, think it would look better in something more subtle. Also the rear tyres are stretched which looks very :ghey:

Had a lil play with the aero kit
