Well I've booked my car in at horshams for next thursday. It's the closet Nissan specialist to me and they do have a good rep so going to risk it! :) I'm sure once I'm driving with 1.2 of boost I will be happy!
Make sure you go for the Nistune board, not the Horsham one. This way you can get it re-tuned by virtually any tuner if your not happy with it or want to re-tune after adding more parts

Injectors are out my league tbh and I'm not interested in getting to that state of tune, I want to keep it safe and sensible. Is it really worth it for an extra 200quid. I had gone with the horsham board. But I'm sure I can change it. Thanks :)

The trouble with the custom maps is despite having installed the board etc he still charges 300 of for further alterations in anroad mapping session...

But if you have the nistune board, Steve and Greg map them too so you could always have a retune elsewhere.

Surely they would charge similar money to tune a nistune board they havent installed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely none of these guys would do it for much less than 300!

Breaking it down it's 200 extra for nistune, a retune of a Horsham board is 300 so that's 100 extra. Am I going to need it tuned more than twice?! And I would need Steve etc to charge under 150 to justify it really. Hmm if I had big plans for it, I defo would. But as it's my daily car, I don't want to ruin it and kill it quicker by putting bigger power through it. So I find it hard to justify the 200 extra........

I don't know I will sleep on it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but Jez will charge you £525 to supply and install his board and he will map it on the road.

Steve will have to confirm this but I believe he charges £500 to supply and fit nistune and he maps it s lot more thoroughly an a Dyno Dynamics rolling road.

I've not had a reply from Greg yet so can't comment on his charges.

If you want Jez to map your car I would P/X you my ECU that already has his board in it, so you would only have to pay for mapping and save money.

Well Jez has quoted 380 to fit and map his board, or nistune is 570 mapped and fitted. It would cost me over 70 in fuel to get to steve. I have considered it. Horsham is only 30mins away Steve is 2 1/2 hours.

So jez doesn't seem that bad a price if greg is charging 600 for Nistune remap. And at 380 it is an ok price. I would possibly use Steve if he was closer! But I also prefer the live mapping on the road, would prefer it done on an airfield just as the speeds are high, but road is ok with me.

I'm tempted by your offer, how much would you like for it px?

Did Jez break down the price for you? He's certainly reduced it somewhat since when I had mine done.

just bear in mind that nistune is mappable by those that have the software were you to decide to make any changes, a jez board is a jez board... you will have to return it to him and pay full map price for even minor fuelling tweaks... i would have a nistune all day long looking back ;) you dont know what you'll do in future until you get there

That's probably why he's offering it with a discount, because he knows you'll have to go back to him in the future, then he can have your pants down again. Like I say, he quoted me £350 to remap again which I was far from happy with. I'd rather pay an extra 150 and get a nustune board mapped by Steve or Greg. I'm not being funny but me and Dean have had our cars for years now, just don't want to see others repeating our mistakes.

Dont worry man I know you guys are trying to help, and I actually really appreciate it. Here's what jez quoted me through sxoc a few months ago and it was the same last week when I spoke to him.

"We'll map to whatever fuel you have in the car. If we map on 97 it'll be fine on 99. But if we map on 99 then it may not be ok on 97. I'd recommend VPower/Tesco 99 for the best performance. Sainsburys/BP are about the same.

Heres the mapping costs:
H-Dev board, custom remap using Nistune software: £349.99
Nistune board, custom remap using Nistune software: £539.98
Board fitting (either board above): £29.99

Nistune software: £163.39
Consult/Nistune cable: £49.99"

Just for me money is tight with trying to keep the mrs happy (she hates me spending money on my car :( !), running a mortgage etc etc. So I was really weighing up the options out loud. If I was money free nistune would be my first port of call, I just don't know if I could scrape together another 190, as I have tax and two new tyres to buy! Argh why can't I be rich! Lol. Life would be easy

So your looking at £379.98 all in. I wonder how much of that is for the board and fitting..? It may be worth asking him how much it would be just for a remap, then we can work out what it's worth. When were you going to have the work done?

Alternatively, if you have similar mods to me you may be ok just running my ecu but if have it RR'd to check fueling. It's mapped for 1.3 bar max but has the best fueling around 1.0 bar (low boost).

I'm going next thursday the 1st. Well my mods are, stock turbo and manifold, fmic, apexi intake, twin pipe exhaust elbow, decat, greddy profec boost controller, NGK copper bcpr7es plugs gapped to .75, umm that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Are we similar to when you had yours fitted? what have you changed to now btw?
I will call him tomorrow explaining I can get hold of an ecu fitted with his board and how much is just a remap! I have a funny feeling it's still going to be 349.99!

My mods were the same as what you have apart from a tubular manifold which shouldn't make any difference. I was running grade 7 iridiums too which I installed in the workshop before mapping.
Since then I've made the exhaust more free flowing by removing the mid box but I've got cams, AFM, injectors ect to put in, so need another map. I can bring it over next week but I'd get a RR done to check fuelling though if you wanted to avoid mapping.

What boost do you intend to run?

Expect 1.2 bar producing 300 or thereabouts with around 95% injector duty and afm starting to max out. It will have a kick to it though regardless. He knows how to map cars great I just think he could of done more with my car

If you decide to get a stand alone setup, I'd try Martin Battye (MB Automotive). I got charged £450 for 8 hours work. he live mapped my car and we spent 3-4 hours on the road. He mapped the whole rev range of the car, not just the top end fuelling. He also did every possible engine check you can think of and installed an AEM afr gauge. He scrapped APT's map, which turned out to be a modified base map, which he showed me. The car was better on fuel, not so jerky on part throttle but we were limited to the tune due to pretty bad boost creep. If you see his workshop, you'll instantly be impressed.

Hmmm it's a great chance to save money, I'm just abit worried that our cars are different, mines been used and abused, and therefore I could still be needing a remap to adjust the fueling etc. Soooooo After thinking about it, alot, I am going to go with yours and deans advice and get the nistune board fitted! That's what 0% interest cards are for!!

Adam where is his place and what standalone did you get and how much did it cost?

Your next step is to get it mapped by Steve or Greg on a RR! ;)

You would be welcome to try my ECU and have the fueling checked on a RR if you change your mind! :)
