was wondering from peoples experience what sort of power would be made from a s15 with these mods-

apexi filter
full 2.5" cat back Greddy system
decat
uprated downpipe

270hp ish?

now with these mods-

apexi filter
full 2.5" cat back Greddy system
decat
uprated downpipe
Front mount cooler
boost controller
Remap
330hp ish?

also one last question can you put a boost controller on and turn up boost a bit to make a little more and not damage your engine without remaping?

im new to the s15 tuning i pick mine up tomoro!

Cheers in advance!

ps car is low mileage like 25k

Without a Z32 AFM im thinking the A/F will max out around the 300BHP. Ive got same above but with the Z32 AFM and mapped at 1.2 Bar without the injectors maxxing out which should be looking at the 330BHP mark.

Id not run any higher than 0.8 Bar without a remap, some poeple may say 1.0 Bar but its up to you how much you want to risk damaging det occuring. Make sure you always use decent high ron fuel..preferably Shell V-Power or Tescos 99 (which im mapped on and have got spot on fueling with no det as proven on a RR)

I would also strongly suggest you get an uprated fuel pump fitted asap as well.

i might sound really thick but what is stock boost setting on the S15?

What is this AFM does this mean air flow meter? Z32 is that a model of car?

would i need the fuel pump with just breathing mods?

it has exhaust, filter, decat and downpipe atm but he is going to throw in a new profec 2 controller for boost but i hear you about det! i dont wanna risk anything

Stock boost is 0.7 Bar i believe.

Yep AFM is the air flow meter. The standard S15 item maxes out about 300BHP while a Z32 is good for about 500BHP and its a good cost effective replacement. It comes from a Nissan 300ZX (Z32 in Japan) and should cost about £80-£130 second hand depending on condition. They are a very popular mod with many Nissan models so quite often pop up on ebay etc.

I will always reccomend replacing the fuel pump with an uprate Walbro 255 even if not increasing boost much as they are fairly cheap (£80)and easy to do but so very important not to have fail on you esp when pushed harder due to increase boost etc, not forgetting the age it will be in the car (7-10 years old!)

Use this as a guide to what you need for what sort of power.

TBH though mate, I would get used to the car with stock power first, especially in this weather. What was your last car?

lol S15 Silvia - didn't realise you were in Welshpool dude!! I'm based in Telford :D

Can't believe in one day I find out someone's about to import one soon and he's down the road in Wales and sliding-r is collecting his tonight and he's in Bridgnorth where my folks live and I pretty much go there every weekend at some point lol :wack:

This is nuts... I've spent 2.5 years of ownership moaning I only get to see S15's at shows and never on the road and until I met my good friend Craig there's nobody else nearby... but now this haha  Oh dear, they're getting too common for my liking :p

sliding-r - you've got some good advice from Jez and Craig... One of my first performance mods is the uprated Walbro 255 fuel pump. Always going for around £80 from Apex Performance. This is a must have so there's consistently enough fuel for the engine etc. Without a remap I'd say keep it to 0.9 and no more just to be safe. Even after mine was remapped using Apexi PFC by WGT (who are brilliant at what they do) my stock injectors were getting to 90% @ 0.9 bar stock turbo so that's my current boost limit. I'm going to order Nismo 555cc injectors soon and then get her remapped towards 1.2 bar.

I'd also say brakes and suspension are worthwhile investments just to cope with upgrading the power... maybe look to swap stock pads with Ferrodo DS2500 as I use these out on track and they're ace!! Also upgrade the brake lines with Goodridge hoses. I use this setup on track plus drift days and it really does work. Coilovers - there's a million to chose from depending on how you want the car to handle and feel on UK roads etc.

If you read my PM before you leave then feel free to take up on my offer... and also there's a 'local S15 owner' discount for those wheels you seem to be interested in lol ;)

James

Edit: You, me, S15 Silvia and Craig must all get together very soon for drinks + photoshoot!!

lol do you go to TCAT?? I used to play footy there every Tue night but doing more photography and general socialising stuff instead of keeping fit these days haha :D

I'd say 0.9 without a map is not really gonna give much of an increase... mine including remap @ 0.9 is still 250 bhp but because of the remap and changing of the boost levels to suit the new mods like FMIC, downpipe and decat, she's now got 50 bhp more @ 4500 rpm IIRC as well as around 60 lb ft increase in torque in the midrange as well so under fast road conditions plus drifting I can feel the benefits a lot :D

One thing about the boost controller is that it'll more than likely help your turbo boost more aggressively even though power at the top end might not change that much ;)

There's a massive local meet around Telford which I attend pretty much every week... it's always on Sun nights and kicks off around central area at 7.30pm. I'm usually out later around 9.00pm cos of kids but will stay out till past midnight sometimes :) There's usually some nice cars knocking about (usual scores of Corsa's and Saxo's) but I have a mate who owns a 600+ bhp red R34 GTR who's a regular (he actually works for FIA GT2 racing team and travels Europe a lot lucky bugger) and also another mate with white TT Supra.

Theres a few of us on here who are ex-civic/EK9 owners, incl myself. Awesome cars and I'll be doing my best to get another, one day. Only problem is, they are comparably easy cars to drive quick and on the limit, which is totally different to S15's

Craig,

yeah car is very dodgy coming out of corners when coming on boost and im only running stock s14 wheels with balloon tires that look shat! + tein lowering springs. the weather isnt helping, icey conditions and no experience of rear wheel drive but im just taking it steady till i get to grips with it.

Ek9 was a piece of cake to drive fast, you felt like a race driver in the chuckable little rev box. miss the seats already- thats about all i miss though atm lol!

Yeah, the recaros in EK9's are one of the best seats I have ever sat in! Quality little cars. I loved the way you could kane it to death and all it did was take it and ask for more! :)
