 Having toasted my engine at the track I have started the rebuild and was wandering if someone could tell me if piston pins can be fitted at home or are they a specialist job the requires heat and a press?

They're just held in with cir-clips so all you need is an internal cir clip pliers iirc, remove the cir clips, and gentley tap out the roll pin keep it well oiled as not to score the bushings, just make sure the clips are seated properly when its being re-assembled
