I had the car jacked up yesterday and the wheel off... here's what I found :( :

Would you say that's a problem? I'm not sure what the torn up plastic part is... or its function...?

Lol. It would be more uncommon if it was in one piece :) I don't know of anyone's damper boot which hasn't split. Its supposed to be an MoT issue, but I've never known this either. Just get your coilovers on. That'll sort it! :p

My S14 went through two MoTs with split boots and the S15 went through the ESVA and MoT with them...

 wow, ok..............

His local MOT tester may not be as lazy as yours and fail him for it.

If your woried about it, just as a precausion, you may want to get him to OK it

Torque just got it an MOT so I'm not that bothered! So long as it's not causing any long term damage.

As for coilovers... not unless I get a payrise or inheritance any time soon!

Its a bit of a PITA to change them. Strut off, spring compressors, springs off, new boot, springs on, decompress, refit. If you change them, you may as well buy a set of lowered springs for ?100 and do them at the same time...

^^^ easier said than done!

I figure, if it's on a credit card you've GOT to pay it! If I just try to save it I'll end up blowing it down the pub! :p
