Ok so Im going to get some calipers powder coated at the weekend.

But Ive got one concern and wanted some advise/opinions:

Should I split the capilers in half to remove the seal or should I leave them whole?

Ive heard splitting them is a bad idea as they are buggers to reseal.

But if I do not split them are the seals going to get damaged when they get baked?

Any suggests would be great,

Thanks.

Powdercoating gets baked around 150C. Saying that, the seals may be ble to withstad that sort of temp.. only one way to find out I suppose!

Yeah I dont want to split them becasue of the stories Ive heard like Dean's.

I might give the guy a ring and ask him what temp he bakes them at.

They should be able to take a reasonable temp I would have thought.

you shouldn't have to split them. when you have the pistons out, just give everything a good clean and they should be all good. IMHO, a compressor and air gun is a necessity for cleaning them properly.

I wouldnt split them, but the seals are easily removed. If you are having them powder coated, are you having then re-built too? I.e. new seals etc, probably worth doing while they are off the car.
