Hi everyone..

Ok I'm looking at buying an S15 on Monday and I'm told it has screamer pipes fitted. Now I've done some reading up and seen some utube clips of them in action, and reckon they'll be too loud for me.

So what's the best way to get rid of them? I've heard you can plump the pipes back into the exhaust system, how is that done and at what cost? Or I guess the other option is to change the turbo elbow out for a std one.

The car has a upgraded turbo with external wastegate by the way.

Thanks :)

i would imagine replacing the elbow and downpipe would be the easiest option IMO

Surely changing the elbow and downpipe will make no difference if its an external wastgate as its all seperate..? You could just get the screamer plumbed back into the exhaust stytem. Impossible to say how much it would cost though as it could be easy or very difficult depending on the setup.

Just take it to your favourite exhaust place and they'll extend the screamer pipe and join it back into the exhaust, easy :)

I couldn't imagine it costing more than £150ish to get it plumbed back into the system..

As wing said, they would just have to extend the screamer pipe, add a bend into it, and make a hole in the downpipe and merge it in. It's not a KwikFit or ATS job though, take it to an exhaust specialist.. ie. someone who makes custom ones.

screamers are not that bad. they are not as loud as youd think as they are exiting under the car and not out the back.

give it a go before changing it. it might actually make the exhaust note sound nice opposed to the usual SR ear-offending fart noises.

if you dont like it, we'll swap turbo setups yeah? ^^
