Cheap brake upgrade?

Just wondering, I don't find the brakes great on my S15 (could just be because I had Brembo F50s on the Chaser) so would like to do something to upgrade them, dont want to spend much though so was thinking of just discs & pads or think I saw something about upgrading to bigger discs. How is this done? Has anyone done it?
