Well I'm truly skint at the mo so modding on a budget and want to freshen the rear end up. The whole orange/red combo makes things look extremely dated. I'm potentially thinking of masking the lower half of the lights leaving them red and using tint spray on the orange top half but have a couple of questions...

Does black tint spray over the orange look gash?

Will it still light up orange ie. remain road legal?

Is tint spray awkward to work with, ie any strange techniques required or is it purely the same as normal rattle canning?

And has anyone got any pics of this done?

I used to have the rear indicators tinted. the tinting spray is like clearcoat. So it runs pretty easily. Just apply several thin layers untill the lights get the way you want it and then polish it.

I should have some pics somewhere. I'll look around and see if I can find them.

as for removal, I used a special tint spray removal liquid. Just sprayed it on and used a cloth to remove the tint. Takes some elbow grease, but the light wasn't damaged or anything like that.

Edit: Found some pics :)

go to your local supercheap and get a can of "Nite Shades" about $20 a can, i used them on my old lights, to get them off you can nick the mrs' nail polish remover, works a treat and doesn't damage the lights.

yeah, but it all depends on how many layers of tint you put on it. I wanted to tint more, but was afraid the indicators would be hard too see during the day.

how many coats do yours have? I'm just wondering whether it'd look out of place on a pearl white aerokit car...

Can't remember, I applied the tint like 3 years ago and removed it 6 months later. Might give it a go again though. maybe the whole light this time :)
