Hi all,

Got car problems, car is having these type of Symptoms;

-Alot of Black smoke
-Engine shakes badly
-Exhaust shakes
-Revs will go up and down on idle/driving (feels like it going to stall)
-Loss of power, feels like if i trash the car something will blow up.

One day the car will be normal and the next all these symptoms will appear and then back to normal again.
Had a workshop mechanic check it out and test drive it and said it's fine.

what could it be?

CAR MODS; 88000ks
Jap spec
All stock besides 740 injectors, FMIC, bosch 040 fuel pump, front/dump/cat back exhaust, air filter, bov, power FC.
Car has been tuned.

thanks

That sounds like the intermittent coil pack syndrome??

I have it every so often but will then go away if i start the car over a few times, i just need to find the troublesome one and replace it, there's loads of threads about coil packs on here if you need to read up on it :)

If its not coil packs I would be looking in this order;
Dirty AFM
Faulty O2 sensor
Checking your AFR's on the Dyno
If its running too rich it will foul your plugs very quickly also causing bad idle.

i had a workshop install new spitfire coilpacks, do the wires that come with the spitfire coils need to be installed or the stock wires are ok?

By the looks of it they left the original wires

thanks

Mate, if you got wires with your Splitfires, you got the wrong ones. S15 Splitfires are just the coilpacks. Straight replacements for the originals.

yep it's just the blue coilpacks.

When changing the fuel filter, can i just go to a auto parts store and ask for a fuel filter for the s15 or do i need the part number and have to order from nissan?

Fuel filter part number?

thanks

Stick a Z32 fuel filter in :thumbs:

It sounds like a dodgy AFM/wire to me. Im assuming its std and not Z32? If its Z32 then check the earth (which you have to put in additionally to run it on an S body) :)
