On top of what is said, a good fuel map and ignition timing map is essential to get efficiency and reliability.

I've been running 400ps for > 4 years and now 480PS on stock internals.

If you have enough fuel to keep temperature < 600 deg c, you should be safe.

Doesn't it make sense to max out a turbo (say GT-RS) than to slap on a bigger one and run it less efficiently and suffer more lag and less drivability?

Do you mind elaborating on your setup ?

HKS GT-RS,
HKS IN256/EX264,
HKS 1,2mm HMG,
HKS rocker arm stopper,
HKS cam spocket,
Kazama 4-2-1 ExMan,
HKS F CON V Pro 3.24,
HKS Twin Power,
HKS EVC V @1.4bar,
HKS 740cc inj,

The health of the SR20DET and the tuning determines the output efficiency even when the ingredients are identical.

Wow nice, what kinda output are you seeing with the above setup, and did the 256/264 make a diff in response, overall and peak hp ?

Sillbeer - are you running 400ps at the flywheel or at the treads?

200sxy,

i was doing 400 at flywheel, it is now 480.

TripleJs15,

with my tune and other hardware, emphasis is on low and mid range torque, 630Nm @ 4000rpm.

In other words, my tune is similar to WRC spec cars for fast road responses on the tarmac.
