Cars been eating alot of gas recently

turned out to be the tank not fully tight..

i used to smell the fumes when opening the window on the motorway and it would clear after a min or so. it was like it was wafting the petrol fumes from the back all round the car. could aslo smell it when i stopped..

Hope that sorts out your ecomomy problem too and not just the smell.

I found it surprising how much fuel gets out of the tank if its not sealed properly, and its all probably just from fuel sloshing around on a near full tank.

Or maybe it just spills out there when you fill up.... because the filler tube is above the pump cover...
