Hey,

I think I got directed to this forum before on the differences between the S15 JDM turbos.

Is there a trim or housing difference between the auto and manual s15 JDM turbos? Then what is the resultant effect?

Apparently, the auto jdm turbo cost about AUD500 more than the manual jdm turbo!

Ok, I just found this through random browsing, which I couldn't when I tried the search function:
the only different between the s15 manual and s15 auto is the rear housing. manuals have split rear housings auto's don't.

So, what does the split rear housing do?

On the JDM, the Auto was fitted with the non-BB T28 through the entire model life. From 01/1999 to 10/2000 it was the same as the Euro and JDM S14, from 10/2000 is was the same as the Euro S14a and JDM CS14.

Hi Christian,
So what is the difference between the turbo on a 1999 s15 auto and a s14a auto?
Why is the S15 auto treated differently from the manual (re fitting turbos etc)?
Is the autobox the same as a s14a and can only take about 270bhp?

Its the same turbo on the S15 and S14a Autos.

Initially - who knows? The S15 4AT runs less power as standard, has 370 injectors and the viscous diff. So, I imagine they thought 'why put the more expensive BB turbo on?' As they stopped putting it on the 6MTs after 10/2000, this is quite likely...

Its the same 4AT as the S14/a...
