hey guys so i found a car that i think looks nice and all, owner seems like a good kid too
had a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection and the report came back with some problems

1. Near side front ties rod end
2. crank seal leak
3. rocker cover gasket leaking
4. rear shocks leaking
5. excessive backlash due to rear differential (especially in 3rd gear)
6. extension housing seal

general problems from wear and tear
1. oil leaks from cylinder heads
2. rocker cover gasket leaking

compression was good

he said he would send me quotes to see how much it would cost to fix it

the car is a 99' jdm nissan silvia spec R

my question is what do all these things mean, how serious are they, how much would it cost (i know mechanics will try and rip off customers) and is the car worth getting

1. You can replace these pretty cheap.
2. Would most likley need new seal which is a labour intensive job.
3. Simple seal swap.
4. Either get them repaired or purchase new coilovers
5. This is the main problem, backlash is quite common in diffs that are quite worn, its perfectly drivable but can get annoying sometimes, would need to either swap diff or open it open and replace output shaft.
6. Again another labor intensive job.

1. Depends how bad? Could be cracked head, warped head, head gasket?
2. See above.

All comes down to how much the car is to buy...unless its a real bargain I would hold out until you find a better one.
