Can you remap a standard ecu? if not what would I need?
Up to now iv got full exhaust and manifold, apexi intake, walbro and running just under 1 bar of boost. Iv read the post about 15psi not being safe so I think its time for a remap.

I'm not after crazy figures 300 would be nice but want it reliable.
Cheers

You have a few options depending on budget..

Some of the cheaper options would be something like a Nistune or Horsham chip.

You would also benefit from Z32 AFM and injectors to go for 300bhp

What injectors would I need? Is the nistune board best bet? And can the horsham chip be tuned? Sorry for all questions I only know so much this is about as far as it goes lol even tho I'm a mechanic : /

Well I went for Horsham developments custom "daughter" board (he takes your ecu apart and puts in his own built board),
then he did a custom remap, I had everything you do expect I have a large GReddy front mount intercooler. Which you will need.

He mapped it to run 1.2 bar on 97+ octane fuel, and that will give me over 300bhp. 300-320 at an estimate. I didn't have injectors or z32 as I wanted mine to be about 300bhp and reliable. All that cost me £374. Nistune came in at over 600 and injectors are £300+ second hand and z32 £100 and you will only see 1.4 bar, so 350bhp and then you will be pushing the box.

It's my daily and has been that way for 19months and I'm still not bored of the power. The only thing about the horhsam daughter board is that they can only rework it, where as the nistune can be reworked by other nistune specialists.

Ecu either the horsham or nistune are both good for a car around this tune, nistune is better but then it costs more so is down to what you want really hex at Horsham is a nice bloke and is helpful if you need any help with anything

It's all good buddy
He has a rolling road now but I he likes to street map cars From what I know as real world condition are always better. As for fmic I ran the wmic with a water cooler spray for 3 years on 1.2 bar and never had an issue ( on a Nismo Ecu map) so not sure how necessary it is, just better safe than sorry the way I see it. My autobahn fmic fitted with no cuts to the bumper or chassis nose but others haven't had the same fit with it.. Up to you really mate

Yeah is fine mate. Ring jez an have a chat to him would be a good idea as he has done loads of these cars he can tell you better than I can what you do and don't need from a tuning perspective

I went for an aftermarket ECU, The Apexi Power FC with Commander, which i got second hand from a guy on here, and took it to Greg Gush@PROTUNER for mapping.

First of all Greg did the 'Hard Wiring Mod' to the fuel pump, before mapping.

My spec:

Oem Turbo
HKS actuator
HDI GT2 FMIC
TOMEI Turbo Elbow
TOMEI Manifold
Blitz Downpipe
Tanabe Hyper Super Madalion Cat-Back
Apexi Cone Filter
Apexi Aluminium Air Box
APEX Intake Pipe
Apexi AVC-R
Apexi Power FC with Commander
Splitfire Coilpacks

I kept the OEM MAF, as i too was looking for a reliable 300bhp, and it made 307.5bhp, with around 325-300 ft-lbs of Torque, which feels pretty damn good

Greg's attention to detail is second to none, he spent all day on it. His reputation is certainly accurate. + his specialty is building and tuning SR's so he knows them inside out.

Customer for life.

The Apexi commander doubles up as a gauge for various stuff as well, which is useful. If you can pick one up cheap your laughing.
