I have done a lot of searching on Google for an upcoming service.
And finding any definitive answer for an oil filter has been difficult as some mention wrong thread sizes.
But I settled for this http://www.tegiwaimports.com/genuine-nissan-oem-oil-filter-200sx-s13-s14-s15-sr20det-3475/
was actually the cheapest option, but I bought it because it looked legit.

Can anyone tell me if this is going to fit, and if it does it should help the next guy that tries to search!

Cheers,
John

I use K&N HP 1008, they don't list it for an s15 but its the right one. Been using them for 15months. Changed them 3 times. One of the better filters out there according to the Internet!

i couldn't tell you if it will fit!
S14a will 100% be right so next time order from Nissan as try are prob as cheap. Or use apex as they will know. :)

I use K&N
Second this, KN are rather cheap and much better then generic ones, best part is the hexagonal shape on the end so if they are stubborn you can put a socket over them, very easy too use

Well this thread definitely has enough filters now to help anyone else looking!!
The Japanese one i ordered turned up today so ill fit that at the weekend.
My problem is that the closest Nissan dealership is about 20 miles away and nowhere near where I work.
So the S13 SR20DET has a different fitment to the 14/15 SR20DET?

Yes, the thread pitch is different, the s13s SR20s are 3/4 fittings and S14/s15s are M20x1.5

You can still screw the s13 oil filter in but it wouldnt sit right and with any sort of oil pressure, the whole filter will fall off

Just double check that the filter you buy can be fitted to a VQ35 aswell

S14/s15s uses the same smaller filter that will fit the z33

It's the same one that opie oils is selling as a genuine part so I'm sure it's ok!

I personally think its the wrong one, it doesn't list any of the relevant engines on the box, and only the s13 sr20det which uses the wrong thread.

Sparky listed the Nissan part number in post 5 I think.

Also s13 share the same filter as skyline hence why opie oils may sell it.

Yep - if it says S13 SR20DET, then that's the wrong filter

The S13 filter is also slightly bigger than the S14/S15 filter so you will notice it's the wrong filter straightaway, used to have the pic to show the size difference but lost the pic now

Turns out there is a new Nissan dealership close to me!
So I got this:

I'll be sending the other one back, and telling Tegiwa that they're not used for s14/15's

You've done everything right there, the best oil, the correct oil filter, Super Cheap degreaser (great stuff) but I'm scared of you using that Greddy magnetic sump plug...

I think i've read in jdmst someone snapped his in half, was that you? I've used the magnetic sump plug for ages (about 2 years?), I never had a problem but the magnetic sump plug is coming out as i'm putting in a greddy sump and they are notorious for stripping so i've bought a fumoto drain valve
