Hi all,

I'm about to buy some Recaro SR-7 seats, but I have a question about the rails.

There are two different rails you can buy for the reclining buckets like the SR-7, the "Normal Rails":, part number 2081.087:

and the "Sports Frame" rails, that sit lower. They are only for the driver's side, part number is 2081.089:

I probably need the sports frame rails, since my head is skimming the roof with the stock seats already (I'm tall).

I was told by some people at autobacs that with the sports frame rail, I might have to either remove the carpet under my seat, or cut a big hole in the carpet to make it fit. It doesn't say anything about that on the Recaro site though. All it says is that since it is designed to sit lower, the slide rail is offset by 150mm, and it "might" interfere with a roll cage, or the sliding mechanism "might" damage the carpet:
着座位置を低くするためにスライドレールを後部座席足元にオフセットさせているため(約150mm)、ロー ルゲージへの干渉やフロアカーペットを損傷させるなどの弊害が生じることがあります。 It doesn't specify for which model either (180sx, s13, s14, or s15).

I don't want to buy the SR-7's, install them, then find out I can't fit in the car anymore....

My questions are:
1) Using the "normal" (2081.087) rails, does it raise the seating position compared to stock?
2) Is it true you have to cut/remove the carpet to get the sports rails (2081.089) to fit in an S15?

I know the guys at mightycarmods installed SR-7's in their S15, but they used the 2081.087 rails...

Also, I can't use Bride or other brand rails, since apparently you have to use the same brand rails and seat or they defect your car during inspection here in Japan. Also, apparently only stock, Bride and Recaro seats can go through the car inspection (shaken) here in Japan and pass, I never knew that before today!!

Thanks for your help :)
