Hi, I am about to get a 99 sylvia spec r and I'm excited. Is there anywhere I can find out what the limits are for the engine and box etc and what standard figures are. Cheers and great site.

These are figures I got from an old issue of Autocar when they reviewed a standard JDM import:

Power 247 bhp @ 6400 rpm
Torque 203 lb ft @ 4800 rpm
Output 123 bhp per litre
PTW 198 bhp per tonne

I'm not sure about 0-60, 0-100 times etc. Does anyone have figures for these?

The standard T28 turbo seems to have an owner agreed limit of 1.2 bar (without it cooking). If you go down the general route of FMIC, upgraded fuel pump, bigger injectors, bigger AFM, ECU re-map, upgraded down-pipe, decat and free-flow exhaust you are looking at an increase to 300 bhp @ fly (or a little over)??

Anything more than this would require a bigger turbo.

Someone will probably correct me on my estimates... :)

Only thing i would say is that running those mods InitialD has noted, and 1.2bar, you will be more like 325hp @ fly.

0-60mph - around 5.5 seconds
0-100mph - not sure, will try at the weekend

Hello an welcome

The official listing was 5.8. Top speed is a tricky one due to all JDM cars being limited to 180km/h (112mph). I believe I stated 'at least 155mph' to Jap Performance mag when they ran their feature...

150 minus up to 10% speedo inaccuracy = 135... Check the difference between the speedo reading and GPS at about 100... Better still, get someone else to check it... :wack:

That pretty good for a standard car. Consider the size of the Supra's engine and that its got two turbos...

A properly breathed on S15 will see figures under 4.8... Getting rear wheel traction is a bit of an issue though...

the 6 speed is putting down s15's 0-100kmh too
u need to go to 3rd gear which requires 2 gearshifts as 5 speed only needs 1st to 2nd to go to 100kmh
unless ur gan san from BMI itll be quite a mission to get fast 0-100s

General breathing mods will probably be OK. Its only when you start upping the boost specifically that you have to be careful. Obviously, run the highest RON you can. Find your nearest Tesco :D Steer well clear of BP...

Rear wheels burn leaving the track with fire...?

So the boost will stay at .7 with the cat gone and I currently have a hks mushroom filter and a nismo cat back exhaust?

BP fuel bad, reasons as I just filled up with the stuff!
