no that isn't a silly question mate don't worry, vvti stands for Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, they work a little bit like Honda vtec engines, at high revs the engine suddenly pulls even more a bit like a turbo, and if iam right they only fitted this to the 2002 s15 to give it that last hurrah be fore they had to stop making the sr20 due to emission regulations, my car does pull more at high revs but yours should a bit more and pull really nicely, and my car never came with a OEM boost gauge but from what ive seen of other peoples there should be a light there and if everything else lights up then it properly isn't a fuse and properly isn't a rusty earth connection thou most elec problems ive had with other cars have been down to that but the only thing i can think of it being is the power cable that sends the power to light it up, have you looked around it to see if there's any screw driver marks were its been removed at some point. and sorry but as for how to fix it i wouldn't no with that, on this site there's a service and work shop manual that you can download if that's of any use to you, its in mechanical and bodywork section near the top
