I can only tell you have to remove them and at the same time, break them

There is 2 metal clips holding the vent to the dashboard.
    12 and 6 o'clock positions.
Try to get flatheaded screwdrivers in and push the clips in towards the vent center and then pull the vent out.

I'll draw you a scetch of the vent mounting when I have time.
Then you'll see have to do it

I've got some serious MS paint skills

This is the setup.... kind of

You've got to get the screwdrivers in from the front and try to get the clips towards the airvent.
The dash is pretty soft around the vents so getting the screwdriver in won't be a problem (as long as you don't use a very big one).

    happy hunting

    Thanks for that

so looks more than likely that i'll break them

if i do is it possible to buy new vents from a nissan dealer?
as they are original parts not optional extras.

You will be able to order them. Prepare for a 3-6 week wait.

It isn't impossible to get them out without breaking them.
The edge thing which the clips holds on to is kinda soft.
    So patience is the key.

    The vents are very expensive.
At least here in Sweden. About ?75 a piece.
Could work out for the better to buy a complete used dash from Japanese auctions.

And if you really want to be safe. You dismount the whole dash as a piece and then remove the vents from inside.
That would be the best way. But also the most time-consuming.
