Couldnt find an existing thread so heres my contribution..

Went to Calder tonight (our local dragstrip) and ran my relatively low modded S15. Mods are full turbo back exhaust, highflow cat. stock intercooler, apexi pod, apexi induction box.

First off stock boost setup..stock tyre pressures (36psi) and about..30 degrees C heat..around 6PM
14.259 @ 159.55km/h - 2.278 60FT
14.297 @ 159.44km/h - 2.359 60FT

Free boost mod time..tyres to 25psi....stilll damn hot..these 4 runs were run within 30mins of each other.
3rd Run 13.593 @ 164.06km/h - 2.054 60FT
4th Run 13.589 @ 164.62km/h - 2.022 60FT

Took off the free boost mod to try a 13 with stock boost Was about 10PM now and sun was well and truely gone..car had a good rest too for a couple of hours.

13.912 @ 164.12km/h - 2.177 60FT If I could get the 60footer down to a 2 flat I'd probably be able to get a 13.6-7 standard.

With the stock boost setup I had it on a dyno a couple of weeks ago and put down 145rwkw.

What are other peoples experiences with drag times/mods?

I have only tried once.
Really hard to launch. Think my best time was 14.2 or something with 0.7bar boost. Ran 14.5 with .8bar of boost.
Hard suspension and 3bar tyre pressure didn't do much help (came straight from the track). :wack:

Both runs was done with wheelspin in the whole first gear and most of second.

Last time i went sanda pod about a month ago for a RWYB event i took my S15 down the strip, exactly the same level of tune exhaust, decat,HKS induction kit and manual boost controller set a 0.85bar and i managed to get a 13.5 @102 which im happy that.

Still have to make a trip to the strip but I guess with my mods it looks like it will be low 14s. FMIC, Greddy Intake, Power FC, Stock 0.5 bar (may do the mod on it), Greddy J-Pipe, HKS downpipe, Kakimoto 3" Exhaust, Exedy Street and Strip organic, on 17" rubber. I may put on the Boost Controller and the Z32 MAF as well and retune after and see what it gives then.

I have personally done a 12.93@110mph in my s15 with about 190rwkw

The trick to running a s15 without cams at the strip is to change gears at 5500rpm. I did roughly 13 runs on that night to figure out the best way to get down the strip and found that if I revved it past 5500 I would run a slower time.

so my basic tips are

1) start changing gears at 5500rpm
2) hold 4th gear all the way across the line, it will be on the rev limiter, but changing to 5th gear looses you too much time.

We applied this method to my friends s15, with a exhaust, pod, intercooler and a bleed valve putting out about 160rwkw and he ran consistent 13.1's

I personally agree with dcoghlan, but id like to add that even with mild mods that breach the 270rwhp mark, the s15's tranny sweet spot is around 5500-5800.

My car is relatively stock except for a 3" 5 Zigen exhaust and a Profec-A. I managed to hit 13.2 secs on a 400m pass near my home, timed by a mate. I was running on 1.2bar of boost on 4th when i crossed the line doing 180 kph, then the fuel cut came on. My car dynoed in at 244rwhp. The previous statement in the paragraph above was my mate's. His had an FMIC and Tomei Poncams. Duration unsure. 264 perhaps.

Thats what i thought, but it makes sense considering my car is more stock than it is mildly modified, And the official max torque figures are said to be reached at 4800 rpm, and peak power at 6100 rpm. since 5500 falls somewhat in-between, its perfect for launch and riding the power wave.

I may be wrong though, i like my cars as all rounders..not just fast down straights or sideways :D.
