Hey guys,
I haven't found anything about this topic so i wanted to know if there is any difference between a 1999 and a 2002 model.
Sometimes manufacturers change things for a facelift model like headlights.

Thanks and have a nice day ;)

I think the only difference is the turbo ; earlier models have the ball bearing turbo post 2000 were non ball bearing from memory
I think also the 2002 spec had chrome interior trims too

I was wondering about this when i was going to buy mine. What i found out, like Peglio said its more about trim package variants marked with different letters each year. Also paint colours slightly changed. And there was a "facelift" model called "type A" which got a ferrari 456 style front bumper. Could not figure out much about mechanic changes though.

with myself, there are some 1999 models for sale but only a few late models.
I just cant decide if i should buy a 1999 or wait for a 00,01 or 02 model :)

I would buy the car in the best condition for the money and not care in the slightest which year it was manufactured.

Age doesn't really matter it's more about the condition of the car and how well it's been looked after . Earlier models are in a different tax bracket (cheaper ) as well from memory

Tax for my 2002 is £235 a year. Not sure what the earlier ones are.

I live in germany, the tax for this car is the same, doesnt matter if its a 99 or 02 model as we pay taxes for the engine size, both are 2l turbo its about 170€ a year

All Japanese Spec R's came with bearing T28 turbo's..Australia and NZ got bush bearing turbos...There was very little changes, mainly cosmetic models with things like Aero parts, interior trim like B Spec seats and door inlays and paint colour like the baby blue..all the mechanicals were the same

I'm near sure that early JDM Spec R's had journal bearing turbos.

But yeah, mechanically nothing changed over the short life.

Just buy the best one you can. I still love mine and enjoy driving it every time.
