A guy I work with and myself have been talking about doing a RWYB at santa pod and its been a standing joke that we would never get there as my car had been off the road for ages and he has more projects to finish than he will be able to do in his life. His first plan was to rebuild a new cossie engine for his MK1 which he used to race, then it was a 4x4 mk1 capri with a rover V8 of which he had car, running gear and bough said engine but its still a shell and then he bought a VW beetle (Old one) and decided it needed an air cooled porsche engine! again all bits purchased with good intentions lol. Ive painted him in a bit of bad light here but the bloke seriously knows his stuff and is more than capable of finishing all these with unlimited time and no wife!

So as it went i got my car finished before him so it was now I who could taunt and say hurry up blah blah running scared etc, but then he basically cheated. Whilst i was on holiday (coincidence dear Watson?) he sold his mk1 escort shell and a few other bits and went out and bought an 05 lotus Exige....

so my question is with my car have i bought a knife to a gun fight?

both these are from google searches

Lotus exige: 0-60: 4.9 1/4 mile 13.3
S15 in standard guise: 0-60: 6.5 1/4 mile 13.9

my car has full 3" exhaust system, EBC @ stock boost, FMIC, HKS mushroom filter and wider tyres than stock :D

Obviously i don't want pie on face but think it will be close- alternative is i borrow a full aero pearl white car running 450hp and claim its mine :)

opinions below :)

Cliffs:

I'm afraid you will Defo lose but it won't be too bad a beating! Most stage1 (circa 300bhp) will do 13.2-13.5.

That's all under the assumption both are equally good at launching your cars. He may be very heavy handed with his inputs and you could be a driving god, in which case the s15 takes it.

6.5 is pretty slow to 60. I timed mine at 5.0, basic mods 305bhp and only 225 section AD08 tyres, could have abused the clutch more on launch too tbh. You do need to use a careful approach though, we all know S chassis don't get the power down too well at all.
There's not really any shame in losing to a thoroughbred like an Exige though, even if drag racing isn't really it's party piece.
