Hey guys,

Just a quick one.

I took my S15 out for a run today and when I got back I noticed that the area surrounding the oil cap was covered in some black residue.

Now Im not entirely sure, but could this potentially be the oil cap leaking?

If so I have ordered a new spare one with a new seal, just incase.

Also if this is the case would it mean that the PCV valve might need changing at the same time?

Any advise on this would be appreciated.

Regards

Here's an image of it. When i had a closer look, it seemed like a black dirt like texture?

Anyone confirm whether this maybe an issue with the filler cap?

Hey buddy,

No i havnt changes the oil as of yet. It was last done 5 months ago and the oil looks fine in colour at the moment.

The cap is years old now, so i have ordered a replacement.

The only other thing it could be is some crap coming through the vents on my carbon fibre hood.

I was just a bit worried that it may be to do with high pressure building up in the engine?

I would say its just the orange seal letting a miniscule amount of oil past the seal. Looking at the small amount of dust it must be a very minor amount caused by blow by pressure, probably noticeable because your rocker cover is a light colour, not the stock black

Cheers buddy, really appreciate the advice.

Good thing i ordered two new oil filler caps.

That should then hopefully fix the issue ;)

Either the seal in the cap or dirt build up on oil you've split

most likely thats muck thats been trapped by the oil residue from the last time the cap was off and you topped up or did something to drop a bit of oil around the filler cap
