I'm going to get my car remapped with Nistune for peace of mind after doing all stage one modifications: Induction, decat 3" catback, Profec b spec 2 boost controller, FMIC, and a walbro fuel pump.

Question is where do I go?

I have found out that Steve at FC Tuning is pretty much right at my doorstep in Ware, Hertfordshire.
But I hear mixed reviews about him, although mainly good recently.

Or I could go to H-Dev who seem to get great reviews and seem to have more foundation, but are an hour and a half away.

I have asked both for quotes and I have gotten back this:

H-Dev - 689.96

FC Tuning - "The ONLY thing I would do having not seen or knowing the car is for a dyno recheck to be carried out in house at the workshop. For the Nistune Supplied fitted and mapped the January offer is just 499 + dyno time which is 75 pr hour
A dyno precheck is just 99"

So basically both the same price, unless I didn't get the precheck?

Any help would be appreciated, want to get this done asap, as I keep having to wash my car from the ammount of unburnt fuel that is caking my rear bumper

Personally I would go with Steve @FC Tuning. My car was down to go to his garage to have a nistune fitted and map but then some tool reversed down the side of my car with a lorry (different story). But I spoke to Steve on the phone many times and he was extremely helpful in telling me what I needed and what I didnt for a stage 1 tune. He recomended a pre dyno check as nothing is worse than having the car go pop on the rollers. Steve also does live road mapping too which is a great advantage when mapping a car. I have heard mainly good things about him too

Personally would take it to Greg at Protuner quoted me £600 iirc for the nistune and is the best around . It's worth the extra milage to have It done properly I say . It's where my car will be going to have the syvecs fitted an mapped and I know most people with expensive builds including Bdc cars go there( my mechanic polo drives for team falken and won't take his car anywhere else ) Jez does on road mapping too and is a nice guy heard mixed reviews about fc tuning

Thanks for the replies guys, even if you are hrowing more people into the equasion now!
Im currently emailing Steve, and he does seem like a very helpful guy.
and it would also be good I suppose to have a local tuner available if I ever need any assistance.

Ha ha sorry man just because I have looked into everyone and Greg is the only guy so far I haven't heard a bad word said about and I have spoken to a lot of people about it. There are plenty of people about and plenty of opinions to match, I guess the best thing to do is go to someone you feel comfortable with

Iv been told to go to mbautomotive bloke there called martin **** hot apparently and never here of his cars going wrong. I will be going to him this year when iv sorted a fmic. Iv heard a couple of bad stories with protuner not saying there no good tho as I know a few in bdc that go there but most people I know say mbautomotive is the only place they'd go. Iv been quoted 600 for nistune and map and he maps on the road

I had my old S15 mapped by Steve twice and had no problems either time.
First time with mods similar to what you've listed and the second time with a bigger turbo, cams and headwork- car drove great after both mapping sessions.

Two of my mates have used him as well with no issues.

Yeah see I don't mind doing a journey if it's worth it and the drive home is always fun !My car is going to be trailered to Protuner then I get to drive it back! So the return journey should be fun =D
That car does look amazing would love to have a pole around it myself, the amount of work that's gone into it is incredible

Well, I'm going to see Steve tomorrow, as he's only down the road it would be silly not to!
I'll report back on how it goes.

Just got back from seeing Steve at his new unit. Fair few cars in there! He seems like a genuine guy, only problem is that he doesn't have a dyno in house so the nistune will be fitted with the base map, mapped on the road a bit and then finished off on the dyno followed by more road tuning I think.
I will probably go with him as Jez doesn't really respond to my emails, and doesn't really sound too interested, Whereas Steve seems very enthusiastic.
Looks like it will be going in on Tuesday for fitting and maybe Friday for mapping.

I went with jez as Steve has done some poor quality work and even though he's a thoroughly nice chap, he has melted too many engines in dyno's for me to trust him. But now he's doing pre checks and maybe is alittle but more precise then you will get good results.

I would personally go with jez or MB as even though they aren't friendly they are bloody good at what they do! If you went with jez's S15 ecu daughter board you could save £150-200.

And jez not replying is normal as he gets so many time wasters emailing, if your genuinely interested give him a call! Emails take so long and jez is a very busy guy!

I haven't read all of the other replies to your post but WITHOUT DOUBT i would use Greg Gush @ PROTUNER. He is meticulous throughout the whole process.

I have had my S15 mapped twice now with him (once before the Nurburgring trip to make sure everything was safe and sound - and then once again after more upgrades, including getting him to hard-wire my Walbro) and its an all day affair - he does a huge amount of pre-tune checks, then he gets down to business on the dyno, and then a road test while still connected up to his laptop to make sure everything is A-OK.

He is some-what of an SR20 specialist, which is also a plus. He knows everything there is to know about them, and his SR22VET that sits in his bespoke PS13 in his shop is testament to that.

Apart from being hugely qualified and experienced, He is an awesome guy to boot.
Can't rate him highly enough.

I've had my S15 mapped by Steve and Jez both great guys and no complaints. There are always stories and people's opinion on mappers but all the guys that have been mentioned have been doing it for years now so go with your gut.
