Hi Guys,

As said in the title, I was just wondering whether a SR20DET Red Top engine from an S13 would be sutiable as a replacment to my S15 spec S SR20DE?

Ive found one on a Japanese specialist website called "JDMgarageuk" based in the UK and its priced at £541.00, although it states it currently has top end rattle, would that be an issue?

Would this be a straight forward swap or do I need loads of extras to make it work?

Also Would the spec s 5 speed gear box work fine with this engine, or would I need the 6 speed gear box?

Not looking to spend loads and not looking to make 500bhp, just want to upgrade to a slightly better motor with an extra bit of bhp.

Any advise would be appreciated!

Cheers buddy,

Ive just sent him a message via pistonheads asking him a couple of questions about the swap.

By any chance would you happen to know the general cost of getting the engine swapped by a garage?

Just so I can figure out a rough estimate of what it would cost me in the near future.

Well when I asked my mechanic to price up a black top swap including supplying everything ie engine gearbox ecu etc said it would be around 2k all in
Iirc he said he would charge 250 to remove the engine for me so I could paint the bay gives you a rough idea anyways.

Your spec s 5 speed will be perfectly fine, its the same as a S14 box

Engine just bolts in , and will bolt up to the gearbox,
A better clutch, not sure if the spec s DE fly is the same size as the DET ones, might need a S14 DET one
A better fuel pump, and all that kind of turbo needed stuff

Ask these guys for a loom so you can just plug and play that thing into there

Just chose a ECU to suit
