Hi!

Im pretty sure this is going to be the most common question ever - and with the site layout being naughty i cant find anything.

Ive been looking for a spare key + factory central locking remote for my car... now i have called around a few places and they have all told me different things.. That my car is an S15... but then others call it a 200sx... So im very confused as to what im driving!!!! Even more confused about what sort of spare key i need/remote haha... Ive resorted to just calling it a silvia because i just dont know anymore.. But then i have seen cars being sold/spoke about that are advertised as 200sx S15... so thats both..

Someone clear my clouds please! :p

If it was an Australian delivered vehicle, it was marketed and sold locally as a S15 200SX. To maintain the heritage it kept it's Silvia badging above the glove box and on the sides of the headlights.

Go to Nissan Australia if you want a coded key cut.

Hi :)

If your car looks like all the pictures on this site it's a Nissan Silvia S15. It's known as a few different things is different contries, the brochure for example on this site from NZ calls it a 200sx. There is a thread of chassis numbers in FAQ if your really unsure!

Have you been trying Nissan dealers to get keys and fobs? As I have found most completely useless when it come to the s15 with most not knowing it even existed. I have to go in there tell them what I want armed with a chassis number and tell them what I want. Occasionally having to order parts for the S14 200sx as its more simple for them to get there head round. Although at the end of the day s15/Silvia/200sx they should be able to get you fobs and keys.

Perhaps importer garages and specialists might be an easier route as at least they'll know what your talking about! Luckily I have after market fobs and my spare key is just a basic door key style so never had the issue.

Hope some of that was helpful!

Alot of cars are sold around the world under different names but are the exact same car, Holden Australia and Vauxhall UK do a line of the same cars with different names, so do Nissan and Infinity, Toyota & Lexus also Honda & Acura and im sure there are more.
The 180sx S13 S14 & S15 are all sold down here in NZ as a 200sx im guessing the same as Australia but in Japan they all have their individual respective names.

Here in Aus we only got the S14, S14a and the S15 as Australian delivered and complied vehicles sold from new by Nissan Aus.

All S13/180SX's were imported second hand.

check plate in engine bay, jap models are 1999-2000, aus models are 2001-2002 im pretty sure. silvia s15 is jdm and 200sx s15 is aus spec. call it what u want but that should clear some things up.

Check the speedo, If its a Silvia (Japanese) it will only go up to 180Km otherwise it is Australian usually
