After some much needed arch and sill repairs, it was time to test the Almera out (again)!! This is it's second trackday with several accidental 8000+rpm heel-toe downshifts, 300 track miles and it's still going strong! Not bad for a £255, 145k mile eBay special!!

The day went quite well. Had a minor 'off' down a slip road due to locking-up in the morning when it was wet. Managed to flatspot my A048's slightly too which was a bit annoying, but having found out the ABS doesn't actually work, the ABS ECU made a one-way trip to the bin!

Please excuse the dodgy paint.. it was Halford's attempt at mixing to a code..! **cough** And my attempt at spraying!!

Anyway....!

All you need now is the roll cage made out of cardboard tube and those little wire parking feelers you put off your mudflaps so you don't hit the gutter :p

Seriously, it looks like you are having a ball. As I always say, if you get out of your car (or off your bike) with a smile on your face, that's all that matters, who cares how fast you go.

Yeah, it's brilliant fun! surprisingly nippy too for what it is. In the wet it's pretty hopeless but most things are unless they are 4WD.

For the next trackday it will hopefully have a front splitter, decent seat and harness and a lot more spring preload as it still bodyrolls too much. Next one might be Cadwell Park too, so theres a very slight chance of all the wheels off the ground!

Awesome Craig!!! I'm soooo hoping I'll be able to join your Almera in my 14a at some point this year :D

I'm still calling your car the 'Almera GT600' as I fully expect it to be in Time Attack next year with 600 horses and some tasty carbon mods to boot ;) :p

The paint's shabby isn't it! I kind of like it though as it adds to the 'track slag-ness'! LittleKnocks Martin offered to give it a respray in any colour I like for cheaps so think I'll do that eventually. But will probably be boring and stick with the original colour to save doing the door shuts and interior.

There was a standard looking S14 there too and around the corners the Almera was all over the back of it but down the straights it was equal. It was very slippy though so understnadable around the corners! Over a lap I think I was around 8-10 seconds quicker. Would be interesting to see how it does against a fairly standard S15... Any takers?! ;)

yep. I would take you on. I think the cost of shipping a car over there may be a little on the high side though!
