JDM S15 Spec S Key Reprogramming

I just replaced the battery in my key as the distance it worked from had been reduced within half a foot of the door.

Since I replaced the batter it is no longer working at all, I assume I have to go through some sequence to reprogram the key.

Does anyone know the sequence for this?

The car is JDM s15 spec S

I have never had to reprogram a key when changing a battery. I would check to see you have the batteries in properly.

I don't know if it will work on the Silvia but in my girlfriends old Astra you'd to put the key in the ignition and press the button to reset it.... I can't remember if it was just in the ignition or in the ignition and turned to the last notch before starting but both could be worth a try?

As Meddler had suggested I double checked the battery.

I had misread the symbols printed under the battery thinking it had said positive down when it should have been positive up.
