ok i sort of broke one of the boost pipe nipples on the little plug on the left side of the rad today?

what is it? do i need it?
comes from carbon canister

its just a little valve for the carbon canister, if you are junking the canister then just blank it off:)

your car becomes faster cuz its lighter :D, its just for the carbon canister dont really need it if you dump the canister.

its just a little solenoid valve that puts a vacuum feed on to the carbon cannister - emmissions control rubbish....:rolleyes:

Do many people bin the carbon canister then? What exactly does it do and how does it do it? Sorry for all the q's! I've never known what they do apart from they are something to do with reducing emmissions, which sounds BAD!! Not as bad as EGR though!

The idea behind it i believe is that the coal in the canister cleans the fuel vapour before its expelled into the air/atmosphere

WOW! Think I'll be binning that soon then! Catch tank would definatly be more useful!

I didnt remove it in the end as I havent bothered with a catch tank as yet.

ive just been looking at local S15's and most of the NZDM ones dont seam to have the system either, must be a JDM requirement

Can someone post up an idiots guide on what to do to remove the canister and sensor just so I know I get it right?. I am also very new to the s15's lol

looking people engine bay photos, there are heaps with just the bracket left so it must be simple
