When using some speedo converters it can mess up the speed signal being sent to the ECU. Mine is doing this now and the ECU recieves a speed signal roughly 1/3rd of the true speed. Has anyone worked out how/where the ABS gets it's speed signal from?

A speedo converter? I got mine from ebay but not sure if it converts the ABS signal. Want to know now though!

No the speed sensor wiring system

From the works manual

The vehicle speed sensor is installed in the transaxle. It contains a
pulse generator which provides a vehicle speed signal to the
speedometer. The speedometer then sends a signal to the ECM.

Craig, or anyone for that matter!

If you could remember to have alook behind your speedo, and tell me what cable, one what plug the speed reading is taken from, along with where you get your power and earth from, i would be eternaly grateful :)

If you've not done it before its only 5 phillips screws :)

Didn;t get chance mate I'm afraid. Have you tried unplugging the plugs one at a time to check which one contains the speed signal?

Sorry missed the reply. The wire on the row behind the pink wire is the light green one. Its pin 5 " Non Catch Side" i.e not the side with the connector catch on it.

Thankd for the reply Mike

I'm A bit confused becuase Pin 5 according to the service manual is the catch side of the plug? (white plug speedo side of the cluster)

Pin 14 is the pin opposite to pin 5, thats on the non catch side.

Which one do you belive it is?

It's the fifth pin in on the non catch side, the wire is light green. Is Pin 14 light green?

IIRC the plugs have numbers embossed on them at the top and bottom so you can work out which is which. They aren't numbered individually.

Pin 14 is light green, Pin 5 is empty....

I'll check the clips thanks buddy.

So do we settle on pin 14 light green?

can i use any of the other cables for power + earth?

UPDATE!!

The car went for "the chop" earlier, I used connection 14 (Light Green) on the plug behind the speedo (white) this was the 5th one up from bottom on the non clip side.

It work...BUT, after 70mph it drops to 0mph again

I ready about this somewhere, whats the crack?
