What does the ecu use the speed signal for?

I installed a nismo cluster but still have the 180-190 km speed cut :(

if I cut the white/purple wire the ecu doesn't know the speed right and i can go 280??
What does the ecu do with the speed signal?

It's probably a bad idea to cut anything on your ECU harness. The speed signal should pass from the sensor in the differential to the ABS computer, and then to the ECU, which translates it into something that can be read by the gauge on the dashboard. I'm going to guess that your speedometer won't work at all if you cut that wire, but you could try temporarily de-pinning and installing the ECU to see what happens.

I guess the speed signal from the diff goes to the abs unit, then to the cluster and then to the ecu...
i did cut the wire, was able to go past 230 km/h and no strange issues
in the service manual it states to be used for AC and ignition timing (but can't imagen it doing this)
