I was parked up in a service station this morning and whilst I was in there a polish transporter had reversed into the side of my car, done the rear quarter and bumper, door, wing and both wheels. They had cctv of it but the police took 3 hours to turn up and then said he's probably out the country and they wouldn't be able to find him!

And I can't tell the insurance as I will lose my no claims because they're not protected. I'm absolutely devastated

Ah man! That's awful! Sounds like the police are not even interested in finding the guy! I hope you get it all sorted and get the guy that did it!

Christ, what a tw*t for driving off. Will keep my eyes peeled for any parts you might need and let you know if I see anything.

Stuff like this makes me sick. I'll keep an eye out.

You say transporter? As in a vw or a lorry?

ok parts that will be required to fix my car:
1x drivers side rear spat
oem rear bumper
drivers front wing

and the biggy: the drivers pillar from the bottom of the windscreen down the door and about half way along the sill

So if anyone is splitting a 15 or scrapping a chassis or anything please get in touch. Ive been on to Jap performance breakers and they are currently looking for bits and I am waiting for a call back. also been in contact with Mike at torque gt to get some parts.

cheers guys and girls

You need to change your insurance!

Get onto the police, they must know who the lorry driver works for! They must have got a number plate.

That's total bull****!! Sorry dude

they have a registration number but because it was on Polish plates they seemed really relucatant to do anything. If i phone my insurance and tell them whats happened then they will probably write the car off (ok i will get market value for it) but i will lose my NCB and get strapped up for the next 5 years for having a 10k claim on my history. I think it will work out cheaper to just get it repaired

That's absolutely tragic mate, what a nightmare........
IMO go through your insurance. The repair costs will no doubt surpass the inflated insurance premium, and the main thing - you have to think whether you will be happy with the car post repair.

I crashed an S15 spec R when I was 19.
Claimed on insurance , wrote the car off. £9500 payout .
Didn't effect my insurance by much at all.

well the guy who is going to reapir it has all the jog work and specialises in this sort of thing, i went down there and there were some real top end cars down there (jags, couple of ferraris and a 09 plate sl500) so the guy knows what he's doing.

also had a thought, dont suppose the door pillar from an s14 is the same as the s15's?

but at the age of 19, you obviously didnt have much NCB anyway, I have 5/6 years which i really dont want to throw away

Another thing to consider is re-sale value. Obviously it will be known as previously damaged now, within S150C, which will hurt the value.

If you claim on insurance, but want to keep the car, you will be able to retain the salvage at a fraction of the payout figure, and you could then repair it if you fancy, with money in your pocket left over.

Or accept the full payout and start a fresh.

Consider all your options mate, its a real dilemma.

resale value doesnt bother me because i was planning on keeping the car for a while anyway and the repairs will be properly done anyway so there will be no 'bodged' workmanship on the car and i'd rather not have it registered as a cat D write off by the insurance (if it is a write off!)

Whats the point of having insurance if your. Not going to use it.
A not at fault claim shoudn't impact your insurance that badly surely.

Silly question but it doesn't cost much to protect your no claims, if you were that worried about it why didn't you protect them?
